About the Role
You'll be our primary voice translating investigations and watchdog work into narratives that resonate with journalists, policymakers, and the public. You'll manage most external communications — from report launches to social media — ensuring our evidence-based work cuts through the noise.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute a communications strategy for major releases and ongoing research activities
Write and edit web copy, blog posts, press releases, and manage social media presence with a professional but direct tone
Manage journalist outreach and media relationships, pitching stories to major publications
Translate complex technical and policy issues into accessible, newsworthy content
Draft op-eds, public statements, and coalition letters

Experience in communications, nonprofit advocacy, journalism, or similar fields
Proven track record of successful journalist outreach and media placements
Excellent writing skills
Familiarity with major AI companies, technology risks, policy debates, and safety issues
Experience with social media strategy and audience engagement
Ability to make technical policy issues compelling without sensationalizing
Comfortable working independently in a lean organization
Bonus Qualifications
Experience with corporate accountability campaigns
Background in science or technology communications
Existing relationships with reporters covering AI
Experience in fast-paced, mission-driven environments
