In 2023, OpenAI promised the White House that they would share information relevant to AI security with governments and publicly report security risks. They reaffirmed this commitment at the AI Safety Summit in Seoul, South Korea in 2024. But in 2023, a hacker gained access to OpenAI internal messages and stole details about their AI technology. The company did not inform authorities about the breach, and the story did not come out for over a year.
